This presentation will discuss Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors as well as managing and monitoring patients on therapy. The following objectives will be covered:
For Pharmacists:
1) Apply understanding of the difference between chemotherapy and immunotherapy to distinguish between their common side effects
2) Apply knowledge of the presentation of immune-related adverse events to anticipate them in practice before physicians do
3) Manage a patient with an immune-related adverse event using the general treatment principles
4) Design a safe and effective monitoring plan for patients on immune checkpoint inhibitors
For Technicians:
1) Recognize the names of the immune checkpoint inhibitor medications
2) Explain the difference between chemotherapy and immunotherapy
3) Relay the importance of monitoring for immune-related adverse events to a patient and understand common symptoms they should watch for
