1. Describe the pharmacokinetics of methadone and how that impacts dosing and dosing adjustments.

1. Identify the primary clinical applications of methadone.

2. Utilize dose conversion charts in combination with clinical judgement to develop methadone regimens from prior opioid regimens.

2. Identify the common strengths and dosage forms of methadone.

3. Identify common drug interactions with methadone and recognize how those may adjust your regimen.

3. Recognize common adverse events or side effects of methadone.

4. Compare different methods for methadone initiation.

4. Recognize proper federal and state regulatory requirements for methadone dispensing and documentation.

5. Evaluate when patients need ECG’s and revise methadone regimens based on QTc results.
