Respiratory Inhalers in Asthma & COPD

Presenter: Veronica Arceri, Pharm.D. - PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at UHS

Description of CE Content:

This CE will update the audience on new recommendations from both the GINA (Global Initiative for Asthma) 2020 and GOLD (Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease) 2020 evidence-based reports. In particular, new recommendations concerning use of low dose ICS/formoterol as needed for relief of asthma symptoms will be covered. This recommendation represents a dramatic shift in the treatment of asthma. There will be a general review of inhaler counseling. Improper inhaler technique is an important contributor to failed therapy in both asthma and COPD, and inhaler counseling can have a large impact on patient outcomes.
